| Testimonials Here is a selection of comments from people who have used Stencil Bum clipping templates
Hi Ash
.I bought stencils year after last and only put them on this year. (I
was so nervous to do them, and then when I did, it was so simple!!!)
So I've attached some pictures.
The chestnut is my semi-retired 23yr old jumper Simon and the bay is his
semi-retired best friend Odie. Their favorite thing to do now is gallop
on the beach!!!
Hope you like them!

The stencil was very simple and easy to use - it stuck to her (bathed and
dried) coat brilliantly and didn't slip or move once. However I did find a spare
pair of hands useful occasionally to pull it (and the coat) a bit taught for
certain bits. With regard to the actual clipping I used some cordless trimmers
set to the shortest cut (0.6mm) and found that if the stencil was below the bit
I was clipping then clipping up against the coat as normal was fine. However if
the stencil was above or by a corner then I needed to turn the clippers over and
clip down with the blade pointing down (my OH's suggestion as its how he does
his sideburns - does that make any sense?). Once I was satisfied that I'd taken
off all that needed to come off it was just a case of peeling back the stencil
and giving the clipped bit of bum a brush!

The stencil has been applied at
last. I chose to put it on Oliver as I like how the clipping shows up
against his coat. I found it much, much easier to
apply the stencil using the new film application system
than with the old method.

"Stencil Bum was really easy to use, and surprisingly quick too - the entire stencil only took 15mins from start to finish. I'm delighted with the results & it gets some interesting comments in the hunt field!" 'Druid' - Horse & Hound forum member (Eire)
Quote from Horse & Hound forum member 'Twigggy' "Thought those of you dithering about the stencil idea might like to hear how I got on! I did Crystal's name on her bottom...please bear in mind this is the pony that escaped 3 times across the yard when we turned the trimmers on a few months ago!
Tied her up and spent about 10 minutes getting the trimmers close to her bottom and then on them. Good Start. Turn trimmers off, and peel off backing paper to stick stencil to pony's bottom. Curse children who use masses of coat shine and lean on pony (who looks most put out) to make stencils stick. Turn on trimmers and repeat performance of getting them near pony. Begin trimming. Do some of stencil. Trimmers run out of juice. Curse pony for being such a wuss and get proper clippers. Turn on proper clippers, pony falls asleep. Curse pony for extreme stupidity.
Clip over stencil whilst a) holding it against pony and b) trying to avoid fingers. So far so good. Blow hair away. Curse own stupidity as hair goes up nose, in eyes and in ears. Brush remaining hair away with hand. Do a bit more, then decide clippers are really too big to finish the job. With some trepidation, as it looks like whole enterprise will have failed miserably, peel stencil off pony. Brush hair away (see, I do learn). Get very excited as it appears to have worked very well, although needs some tiding. Clip round edge so that when YO fully clips pony she
does not clip off said design (do not ask why I am not allowed to clip my own pony by YO - sore point). Feel sorry for pony as it is being left looking rather silly with one clipped patch on it's bum. Take trimmers home. Charge trimmers. Back to yard next day, tidy up design. Feel very smug when children who have pony on loan tell me she looks the best on the yard (there is some competition about whose pony has the best design clipped into it's bum).
Things I learnt:
1. Best to clip over the top with big clippers first - much quicker, but you need to hold the stencil down hard.
2. Buy mens beard trimmers to tidy it up as they clip in the direction of hair growth as well as against it.
3. Make sure you have enough time!!
4. Don't be alarmed at the fact that it looks as though it hasn't worked just before you peel off the stencil." Tilly T - Leicestershire

" I'm quite pleased with my first attempt, although I do think it was slightly adventurous, it only took me 30mins, It requires a lot of concentration which is not my strong point, but over all very easy to do!"
" its quite fiddly to begin with, but I found if you angle the trimmers and just draw round the edge of each letter its becomes really easy, and then I peeled off each letter and neatened it up. Lately was a model citizen considering he hate being clipped, I think because the trimmers are so quiet and he is so fat he didn't notice!, my sisters and liveries all want them clipped on their own horses now ! Dear Ashley,
Just thought you might like to see the results of using your stencil on my daughter's pony. We were absolutely delighted with the results and I was impressed with how easy it all was (though at one point I didn't believe it was going at all well!). Tosh has been transformed from a super pony into "Superpony"! Everyone who has seen him is really impressed and I have passed on details of your website to loads of people. I think we may have started a trend.....
Thanks very much,
